Aramaru Observatory

The Aramaru Observatory, located in Duksil-dong, Gyeyang-gu, Incheon, offers a view of the Ara Waterway. The Aramaru Observatory is a circular observatory located in the Gyeyangsan Gorge, the highest section of the Ara Waterway, where you can look down from beneath a glass floor. It is considered the most scenic spot along the Ara Waterway section. Ara Waterfall is the largest artificial waterfall in Korea, utilizing the terrain of the Gyeyangsan Gorge to create a vertical landscape. The waterfront walking trail leads to the artificial waterfall by stairs, allowing visitors to experience the diverse forms and grandeur of the six waterfalls right next to them. The Aramaru Observatory and the artificial waterfall feature nighttime lighting installed on the railings, floors, and waterfalls, allowing visitors to enjoy magnificent and beautiful views even in the evening. The Aramaru Observatory and the nearby Ara Waterfall are combined and are collectively known as the Four Scenic Spots of Suhyang. The 'Ara' in Ara Waterway comes from the chorus 'Arario' in our folk song Arirang. The Ara Waterway connects the West Sea and the Han River, and the watercourse starting from the Ara Hangang lock near Haengju Bridge flows through Gimpo City, through Gyeyang-gu in Incheon, and finally into the sea through Seo-gu.
