About Mapo-Gu

Mapo-gu — home to Hongdae, Sinchon, and Hapjeong — is Seoul's youth and arts district, defined by its university population, live music venues, and creative energy. The food scene is diverse, affordable, and experimental: trendy cafés, late-night pojangmacha, global street food, and boundary-pushing restaurants all compete for attention in this perpetually buzzing neighbourhood.

What Visitors Say

★★★★★James Jo4 months ago

I often visit Mangridan-gil. Every time I pass by, there are always a lot of people, so I thought it must be a popular restaurant in Mangridan-gil. Then, I stopped by a little early after work and was so satisfied that I realized it was full of people down there. Above all, the sashimi is incredibly fresh and delicious. I plan to visit again the next time I'm in Mangwon-dong.

Review dated May 15, 2025 Visited Obok Fisheries wanting to eat sashimi with friends. We went there because the Naver reviews were good, but left feeling nothing but disappointed. That is all there is to the 48,000 won assorted platter; only the live octopus and what looked like seaweed were substantial, while the rest—flounder, salmon, tuna, etc.—only came with three pieces each. Even the abalone was cut into three pieces. It felt like a typical sashimi restaurant for Instagram aesthetics; I would only recommend it if you are looking for a casual drink after your first round of drinks.
