About Jongno-Gu

Jongno-gu is the historic heart of Seoul, containing Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, and Insadong's antique street. The area balances ancient and modern — traditional Korean restaurants, teahouses, and street food vendors operate alongside contemporary galleries and specialty coffee shops. Eating here feels like a connection to centuries of Seoul food culture.

What Visitors Say

★★★★★James Lee10 months ago

This spicy octopus restaurant is the best of its kind in Seoul, not only because of the great spicy octopus. If you're not coming right when it opens for lunch or at, say, 5 pm for dinner, you'll stand in line and wonder why so many people are waiting at this restaurant on the 2nd floor of an office building. When you are finally seated, a hot pot of bacon with bean sprouts will be sitting at your table. Tell the server politely to take this away. If you are in a party of 2 to 4, order 1 to 2 servings of the spicy octopus (낙지볶음), 1 to 2 servings of the egg omelette (계란말이), and 1 clam soup (조개탕). It is the perfect trifecta. Order 1 or 2 servings of rice, grab some of the metal bowls next to self service kimchi station, and mix some octopus with the rice with a splash of sesame oil (also next to the kimchi station). The rice will mellow the spicy octopus *a bit* but the combo of the egg and the garlicky and simultaneously light and rich clam broth will cut the spiciness into perfect balance. I challenge you to have a more perfect meal that says, with absolutely all skill and no performativity, "we are Korea."
