I ordered assorted sundae and sundae soup to-go. An older man worked in the kitchen, getting paid, and a woman who appeared to be his wife served the food. The man sliced the sundae in the kitchen, microwaved it, and then packaged it for me. That was a first for me. When I brought it back, the portion was ridiculously small. It was soggy and had a slight fishy smell, so I almost threw it all away. I wouldn't even feed this to my dog. The quality of the food, the packaging, and everything else left an indelible impression of a dirty, smelly, and dishonest place. It was the dirtiest experience I've had near Myongji University.

The Myongji University commercial district, encompassing Myongji Elementary, Middle, and High School, offers many affordable restaurants that appeal to not only college students but also elementary, middle, and high school students. As a graduate of Myongji Elementary and Middle School, I frequented the cafeterias there often.
I returned to Myongji University for a drink with some middle school friends after a long time. Aside from the many franchises that have opened, I was delighted to see the area was still the same. Sooni's Gorilla Tteokbokki and Moraenae Gopchang were also in the same location.
I've never had a drink in this area, but I discovered this sundae soup place around this time last year through "Choi Ja Road," and out of curiosity, I finally visited. Apparently, it's a fairly established establishment, and they're famous for making their own sundae.
Therefore, the sundae was the main attraction here, not the sundae soup. The three of us ordered makchang sundae, boiled pork, and sulguk (Korean traditional soup). We started with soju and beer, and then, unable to think of a second place, we drove for a while and ended here.
Side dishes included spicy cabbage kimchi with lots of garlic and well-fermented cubed radish kimchi. We also had a few slices of boiled pork. The boiled pork was refreshingly cold, chewy, and springy, making it the perfect appetizer.
First, the makchang sundae was neatly arranged on a plate, but four pieces were particularly small. The owner said the taste was different from the larger ones, so I compared them. True to its name, the outer shell was wrapped in makchang.
The filling was made with glutinous rice, blood sausage, raisins, nuts, and bean sprout heads. The chewy makchang was complemented by the softness of the blood sausage and the texture of the nuts, making it incredibly appealing. The flavor was rich and savory.
Whether large or small, the makchang had a distinct presence due to its texture, blending harmoniously with the filling. The smaller ones had a more vibrant makchang texture, while the larger ones had a more intense flavor.
Next, the boiled pork consisted of pork loin and head meat, without any of the offal. It was incredibly thick and generous, offering a truly excellent value for the price. The head meat was laid on the bottom, and the pork loin was piled generously on top.
The pork loin, despite its thick thickness, was surprisingly moist, with a perfect texture and a smooth texture. The gamey odor was perfectly controlled, so I ordered two shots of soju for each bite.
The head meat was coated in a smooth layer of fat, creating a savory and rich flavor. I asked for salt instead of shrimp paste, which made it even more delicious. It tasted like tender sliced beef.
I ordered the soup just to sample the broth, but it was as generous as I expected. The owner even provided a complimentary bowl of rice, which was a real treat. The broth, perhaps brewed with beef bones, was incredibly white and cloudy, reminiscent of gomtang (beef bone soup).
The broth was milky and creamy, and the addition of sliced green onions added a refreshing kick, creating a nice balance. The broth was refreshing, but it was more than enough for a hangover cure, and the filling was mainly comprised of offal.
Since my classmates are all big eaters, we finished off the meal with an assorted sundae, which was a mix of makchang sundae and other sundae. With blood and vegetables as the main ingredients, it had a rich flavor similar to Byeongcheon sundae.
They provided a generous helping of food from the start, and they even added zucchini pancakes for free, so we were completely satisfied. The sundae was as impressive as I'd hoped, but I couldn't help but be captivated by their hospitality.
