About Jongno-Gu

Jongno-gu is the historic heart of Seoul, containing Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, and Insadong's antique street. The area balances ancient and modern — traditional Korean restaurants, teahouses, and street food vendors operate alongside contemporary galleries and specialty coffee shops. Eating here feels like a connection to centuries of Seoul food culture.

Oh my gosh, I am literally in heaven. I’ve been in Seoul for 8 days and it is very hard finding vegan and let alone any vegetarian food anywhere. We accidentally discovered this place and I am so happy that it’s here and right next to the Gyeongbukgong Palace. We ordered the set menu that came with a tasting of the popular dishes. The lotus leaf had great aroma. The pumpkin porridge was tasty and the burdock glass noodles was delicious. Finishing off with the burdock tea and home made rice cakes was a really great touch to a beautifully presented and yummy dinner. I highly recommend this place for vegans and vegetarians. As an added bonus no garlic and no onions are used. Amazing place and the owner was very warm and explained all the dishes (home made, no sugar, etc). Yet another bonus her English was perfect (which was another difficult thing to get in Seoul). Perfect for Muslim, Halal friendly, Jain friendly, Jewish Kosher, and Buddhist friendly!

Delicious and affordable korean temple cuisine. The owner recommended for us to get one set and the rice and dumplings and the portion was perfect for two. Everything tasted great and the restaurant had a very homely and cosy atmosphere. The owner was really friendly and sweet too. Highly recommended!

Maji is a vegan, temple food/cuisine, Korean restaurant. This restaurant is popular among foreign tourists and vegetarians. The restaurant buidling is a traditional Korean house with the Korean style interior design. The background music was played in Korean traditional instruments. There were English menu books. I ordered Lunch Dinner Set (런치디너세트) 23,000 won. The price is very reasonable considering this is in the popular tourist attraction area. The staff spoke very good English. Every time a new dish is served, the staff will tell you what you are about to eat in English. The food was delicious and looked really healthy. If you are traveling in Korea and looking for authentic Korean restaurant, this is it!
