About 한식

Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.

About Mapo-Gu

Mapo-gu — home to Hongdae, Sinchon, and Hapjeong — is Seoul's youth and arts district, defined by its university population, live music venues, and creative energy. The food scene is diverse, affordable, and experimental: trendy cafés, late-night pojangmacha, global street food, and boundary-pushing restaurants all compete for attention in this perpetually buzzing neighbourhood.

What Visitors Say

The reviews suckered us here… so guess I should’ve done more research. This was our first dinner in Seoul… looking forward to some black pork bbq and this place was supposedly recommended for the Jeju Black Pork. Ok, this spot is like old school bbq… lack of air, suffocating heat… tables are not meat for big groups… they accommodated our 8, but then again, we were the only ones there… as they open. We have kids so wanted to eat early. We got the black pork platter, some steak… and drinks to start. The lady kept saying we needed to order more but with 4 kids, we didn’t think it was needed… they gave us a lot of sides and the ahjumma helped us cook the meat… but we felt bad, bc the staff were eating their dinner before i guess the real dinner crowd comes in…. After 7pm, overall, the food quality was just ok. Service was decent and really wish we opted for another bbq spot. Pretty pricey for KBBQ in Seoul - bc the quality wasn’t great.
