About 경양식

Western food has been localized in Seoul over decades, emerging as something distinctly Korean in the process. Demi-glace pork cutlets, cream pasta with kimchi, and French-style brunch menus sit alongside Italian pizza and American burgers in Seoul's eclectic restaurant landscape. Many younger Korean chefs trained abroad and returned to open restaurants that blend European technique with Korean ingredients and sensibility.

About Jung-Gu

Jung-gu sits at the geographic and commercial center of Seoul, encompassing Myeongdong (K-beauty and street food), Namdaemun Market, and the financial district. The food here spans the full range — from tourist-facing street stalls in Myeongdong to understated lunch joints serving office workers, and traditional Korean restaurants that have operated for decades without needing to advertise.

There’s something magical about stumbling into a restaurant by pure chance. On my very first day in Seoul, I found myself at Yoogane, a spot I hadn’t planned but quickly became unforgettable. I started with a steaming bowl of fishcake soup. The broth was hot and comforting, with just the right kick from dried chili. It wasn’t overwhelming—just enough spice to warm me up and set the tone for the meal. While sipping the soup, I watched the staff slowly prepare the sweet corn cheese chicken galbi, one of Yoogane’s most recommended dishes. The anticipation built as the sizzling pan filled with tender chicken, gooey cheese, and sweet corn. When it was finally ready, the flavors were bold, balanced, and cooked to perfection—a hearty, indulgent dish that felt like the perfect welcome to Seoul. Yoogane wasn’t on my itinerary, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of my first day. If you’re in Seoul, this restaurant deserves a spot on your list—it’s flavorful, fun, and deeply satisfying.

Decided this was dinner for that night. Ordered the Original which is the best. Marinated Chicken Galbi and happily delicious. Serving was good and able to finished. Ordered the pancake which was nice and alright to eat. The steamed egg was good to eat. Egg lovers are happy. Overall, good eatery to come for dinner and there’s often constant flow of queue. Happy!

Yoogane Chicken Galbi Myeongdong 2nd Branch is absolutely fantastic! The chicken galbi is packed with flavor — tender chicken, fresh vegetables, and their signature spicy-sweet sauce that cooks right in front of you. Every bite is delicious, and the portions are generous. The staff are friendly, attentive, and quick to help with cooking or adding extra toppings. Despite being a popular spot, service is smooth and the restaurant stays clean and well-organized. The lively atmosphere makes the experience even more fun. If you’re in Myeongdong and craving authentic, flavorful chicken galbi, Yoogane’s 2nd Branch is a must-visit. Highly recommended for great taste, great service, and great value!
