While looking for a restaurant in Yangjae-dong, I stumbled upon Okdoenjang Yangjae Branch. I came here for the new soft tofu stew, and honestly, it was so delicious that I could have just ordered okdoenjang, oksundubu, sundubuok, sundubu and okdoenjang, or okdoenjang and sundubu.
The broth was just the right amount of spicy and clean, perfect for the current weather, and it kept me coming back for more. It was the most satisfying soft tofu stew I've ever had.
The prices are reasonable, making it a great place to eat alone in Yangjae-dong, or a place to stop by for a hearty, home-cooked meal. True to its name, it's a restaurant you'll naturally find yourself craving when you're craving rice.
I also recommend it to foreigners looking for authentic Korean food.
The spacious restaurant and well-spaced tables make it a great place for company dinners in Yangjae-dong, and the atmosphere is comfortable for parents and older friends. They often host events, and they're currently celebrating their second anniversary with a 222 won soju promotion, making it a great value.
If you're looking for a restaurant in Yangjae-dong that offers a home-cooked meal, a company dinner, or a solo dining experience, I recommend Okdoenjang Yangjae Branch. The soft tofu stew is a dish you'll want to try again and again.

Great little Korean chain restaurant. Great kimchee. Service and atmosphere was excellent but I went about 1600 so not busy. It gets busy so I suggest that.

Perhaps because we visited in the evening, they mostly ordered the "boiled pork stew" (steamed pork) rather than the soybean paste stew. They had a lot of events, so we added sashimi to the boiled pork stew, along with alcoholic beverages, drinks, tofu kimchi, and even patbingsu (shaved red bean shaved ice) for dessert. Even so, I don't think we spent more than 20,000 won per person.
The "boiled pork stew" has a mild, MSG-like broth, which is a bit lacking compared to the richer broth of the boiled pork stew. However, the value for money is unrivaled. The sujebi (handmade noodles) goes well with it, so I recommend ordering it after finishing the boiled pork. 4.0 stars
The kimchi stew tasted like a well-simmered kimchi stew, which I enjoyed even more than the main course. The patbingsu (shaved red bean shaved ice) was truly old-fashioned, so it was just so-so.
