30 min walk from Gangnam Station Station, making it easy to combine your meal with a visit to nearby attractions like COEX K-Pop Square: Where Huntrix's "Golden" Went Viral.
Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.
Gangnam-gu is Seoul's upscale business and entertainment district south of the Han River. Home to K-pop entertainment companies, COEX Mall, and the Apgujeong-Rodeo shopping strip, it attracts young professionals, tourists, and K-drama fans. Restaurants here tend toward the polished and premium, with a density of international cuisine, high-end Korean dining, and trendy cafés.

View all →Conclusion first for those in a hurry: was defintely worth waiting in the cold for, highly recommend a try if you enjoy thick and very flavourful Korean 국밥 (gukbap). I was looking for some highly rated Sundae gukbap place before I fly back, and this one was on the list. The reviews warned of being pretty tasty but always having line-ups, that can go up from 30min to hours at times. I'm usually not a big fan of waiting too long for food, but decided to give this place a try. There's a big board for waiting queue, where you put number of people + your last name in Korean (go with Korean friend or visit during non-busy hours so you don't have to do the board. Overheard someone say there's no line-up around 3pm). This resturant uses two buildings' first floors at the same time, right across from each other and had their own individual line-up que. Basically running a doubled up kitchen and still being queued with line-up was quite an interesting secene. It wasn't peak lunch time yet of 12 pm and we got there about 20 min after store open (11:10 is open) and already about half the board done with our number as 49 on the board of 50 max (they erase other half when it's done.) The wait wasn't too bad, think we waited for about 20~25 min. Tables settings are done quickly with side dishes and 깍두기 (radish kimchi), and food comes out pretty quick. I wondered if this was gonna be worth that waiting in the cold we did... And yeap, defintely worth it. At this price and this tasty?? I'm defintely coming back when I visit Korea again next year...! Tips: -Go with good Korean speaking/writing friend and stay near the door if you put your name down for the waiting board, as they only check the name on the board once then erase it quickly. Else, go on non busy hours around the 3pm mark. You'd also be able to sit at table instead of the inner room/floor where you have to sit in meditative-like leg position which is difficult if you're not use to the culture -As per one reviewer recommended, the 다데기 or the pepper-based soup mix sauce comes already put on top the soup; don't mix it all right away but take off a half or more spoonful then add back in as you go since it can be quite spicy and salty if you mix all it. -We got the 정식 or the set menu but was actually very full at the end, I'd probably recommend just go with 순대국밥 (sundae gukbap) per person unless big group or big eaters -the tables have 들깨가루 (Perilla Seed Powder) and diced peppers, add them or not as you'd prefer to the soup. 깍두기 is also on the table if you want more (self serve)

Food was good. Very busy service is little lacking. Atmosphere busy, crowed, and loud.
There are two locations directly across from each other, and you need to write your name down and wait a while to be seated. The food was okay and honestly, I didn’t find a “wow” factor. A few thoughts: - They should provide separate serving utensils for the sliced hot peppers and the perilla sesame powder. It’s potentially unhygienic if people use their own spoons to scoop from the shared containers multiple times while eating. Also, the perilla sesame powder lacked flavor. Since Korean perilla powder is quite expensive, I wonder if they might be using Chinese perilla powder instead?
