About 경양식

Western food has been localized in Seoul over decades, emerging as something distinctly Korean in the process. Demi-glace pork cutlets, cream pasta with kimchi, and French-style brunch menus sit alongside Italian pizza and American burgers in Seoul's eclectic restaurant landscape. Many younger Korean chefs trained abroad and returned to open restaurants that blend European technique with Korean ingredients and sensibility.

About Jongno-Gu

Jongno-gu is the historic heart of Seoul, containing Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, and Insadong's antique street. The area balances ancient and modern — traditional Korean restaurants, teahouses, and street food vendors operate alongside contemporary galleries and specialty coffee shops. Eating here feels like a connection to centuries of Seoul food culture.

Kind of crazy that we found an Original Pancake House right outside of the Gyeongbokgung Palace! My friend and I love this spot in the US so it was cool to drop in at a location across the world. Pancakes are massive, fluffy, and delicious. Definitely recommend the banana or pumpkin pancakes...or both! You can do half and half with the pancake stacks which is awesome. Now for my standard comments. Location is very clean and well kept. Booths and seating in general are comfy.

If you’re looking for a halal friendly spot, this is a great place to visit. The pancakes were so, so, so good — light, fluffy, flavourful, and you could really taste the sourdough in them. The only thing I’d point out is that the whipped butter was just okay. It didn’t have much of a rich, buttery flavour. I actually went twice while I was in Korea. The first time, I tried the hash browns (vegetarian-friendly) and they were incredible. I’ve never had hash browns like that before — crispy, flavourful, and the toppings were perfect. With a bit of Tabasco and Sriracha, they were next-level. The meal came with 3 pancakes, whipped butter, and of course maple syrup. Honestly, the pancakes were amazing. The service was great too — at least one staff member speaks English. The toilets weren’t as clean as I would’ve liked, but the restaurant itself was super clean. The bathroom is kind of outside the main dining area, which might explain it. I’ve had pancakes in New York, and I’d say these were just as good. And the butter is similar to what you get in the U.S., not grass-fed, which is why it’s paler. Also, the location is a whole vibe — walking distance from Myeongdong, close to Myeongdong Cathedral & Namsangol Hanok Village, and it’s on top of a museum.

This is my second time here and the vibes still cozy and warm as usual. The non beef menu, such as shrimp taco and pasta were delicious. The pancake also soft and the sweetness was perfect for me. You can make a reservation first through online to avoid a long quequ. If you're lucky, just come on the spot.I In the spring or fall, try to choose the balcony area to experience beautiful view Gwanghwamun Square. The price a little bit pricy because it's kind k legendary menu and it's in the central of tourist spots and international offices.
