About 일식

Japanese cuisine has deep roots in Seoul, shaped by geographic proximity and a long shared history. Seoul-style Japanese restaurants range from affordable sushi conveyor belts and ramen shops to high-end omakase counters. Quality fish is flown in daily, and Korean chefs often put their own spin on Japanese classics — thicker broths, spicier condiments, and seasonal Korean ingredients woven into traditional recipes.

About Gwangjin-Gu

Gwangjin-gu's Konkuk University area has a dense concentration of restaurants catering to students — affordable, diverse, and open late. The area is a reliable destination for budget Korean dining: tteokbokki, kimbap, and pork cutlet restaurants line the streets near the university gates.

What Visitors Say

A hidden gem in Junggok-dong! The number one sushi spot. Tesio is located at the entrance of Shinseong Market. It seems to be trending on social media these days, so I decided to visit since it happens to be very close to my house. From the complimentary side dishes of Chawanmushi and miso soup, you can feel the difference from other sushi restaurants with just a subtle touch. I ordered the Abalone Innards Pasta and the Tesio Special Sushi. The Abalone Innards Pasta elicited an exclamation of awe from the very first bite. Although the overflowing flavor did get a bit overwhelming towards the end, the quality of the Tesio Special Sushi is exceptional. The price wasn't cheap for a neighborhood sushi place, but after tasting it, it was totally worth it.

I visited Tesio, a delicious sushi restaurant in Junggok-dong's Shinsung Market! Each piece of sushi was truly delicious, showcasing the care and dedication of the chef, who specializes in omakase (sushi tasting). I had the Tesio sushi set for two, and the exquisite sushi, featuring a variety of fish like flounder, salmon, and tuna, was absolutely stunning from the first bite. Served with salad, soup, and chawanmushi (spicy rice cake soup), it felt like a complete meal! The plum ice cream for dessert was a refreshing way to finish the meal. The grilled black cod and abalone entrails pasta are also highly recommended. Every dish is made with care and attention. The value is 200% worth it! The cozy, intimate restaurant within the market has a Japanese sushi bar vibe, making it perfect for dates or small gatherings. If you're near Achasan Mountain, be sure to stop by!
