Rated 4.3 on Naver — very well-reviewed by local diners, featured in 387 Korean food blog posts as one of the most talked-about 경양식 spots.

Known for traditional Korean cuisine, this spot draws diners from across Seoul.

About 경양식

Western food has been localized in Seoul over decades, emerging as something distinctly Korean in the process. Demi-glace pork cutlets, cream pasta with kimchi, and French-style brunch menus sit alongside Italian pizza and American burgers in Seoul's eclectic restaurant landscape. Many younger Korean chefs trained abroad and returned to open restaurants that blend European technique with Korean ingredients and sensibility.

About Yongsan-Gu

Yongsan-gu contains Itaewon — Seoul's most international neighbourhood — as well as the scenic Hannam district and Yongsan Electronics Market. Itaewon's food scene reflects its global community: Indian, Middle Eastern, African, and American restaurants share streets with high-end Korean and Japanese establishments. It's also where many of Seoul's foreign chefs have set up their most ambitious projects.

Fresh chips are nice. Especially with their guacamole. Kind of surprised the tortillas weren't corn tortillas like the chips, but the meats tasted great. Overall great food. Nice selection and good drinks. One downside is that they didn't come by to check if we were ready to order until I waved someone over.

I was heading back to my hotel at about 2 PM when I came across Vatos. I had not had lunch, so I figured, why not. First of all, Vatos definitely deserves at least five stars for its atmosphere. The decor is very, very cool. It kind of makes Vatos a “must” experience destination. Because I arrived after lunch crowd, the restaurant was empty. But judging by the number of tables, I will guess this is a happening place. In addition to an awesome atmosphere, the service is exceptional. The wait staff not only served my entrée, but returned regularly to make sure that I was taken care of. Thank you. I ordered the Carne Asada tacos for lunch. I will say that the corn tortilla and the Carne Asada were very tasty. I was a little let down by the lack of ingredients. The tacos only had onions. Not sure that I’ve ever had a taco without pico de gallo or at least some guacamole. I realize that this is a Korean Mexican fusion restaurant, but onions? All in all, it was a great experience. I will return to Iteawon in a couple days, and will return to Vatos and try their burritos. Stay tuned!

Best Mexican my wife and I have had in awhile! Very fresh veggies and incredible jalapeños! Nachos were off the charts, frozen margs radical, and Cali style burrito was perfect! Be sure to add this to your restaurants list if you are visiting Seoul!
