Known for Japanese cuisine, this spot draws diners from across Seoul.
45 min walk from Dongjak Station Station.
Japanese cuisine has deep roots in Seoul, shaped by geographic proximity and a long shared history. Seoul-style Japanese restaurants range from affordable sushi conveyor belts and ramen shops to high-end omakase counters. Quality fish is flown in daily, and Korean chefs often put their own spin on Japanese classics — thicker broths, spicier condiments, and seasonal Korean ingredients woven into traditional recipes.
Dongjak-gu spans the southern bank of the Han River, with Noryangjin Fish Market — one of Seoul's largest wholesale and retail seafood markets — as its defining food landmark. Eating fresh sashimi at the market itself, surrounded by tanks of live seafood, is a quintessential Seoul experience available around the clock.

View all →The sushi is delicious. It's thick and chewy, and the portions are generous. The assorted sushi is well-composed. However, the udon that comes as a service is not that great. It's good to go at a good time because there are a lot of customers. If you live nearby and like sushi, I recommend it.
A sushi restaurant Located a 4-minute walk from Exit 1 of Jangseungbaegi Station. Shinchan Sushi costs 23,000 won. Before and after eating. I sat at counter seat 8, and there was a card reader right next to me, so someone kept taking my payment. Something was starting to bother me. The stickiness of the old table and the salad, which I couldn't tell was either salad or seaweed... I thought, "This place is a failure," but the sea bream sushi was a complete surprise! It had a subtle umami flavor. Perhaps because they use aged sashimi, the white-fleshed fish had a satisfying overall umami flavor. But they didn't sacrifice texture either, even the occasional chewy bite was pleasant. That's why it's always packed, even on weekday evenings! And the two shrimp varieties were also excellent in both texture and flavor. All six types of sushi were very satisfying in terms of umami! As I was enjoying my meal, I even had the luxury of explaining to an elderly person who was struggling to use their credit card how to use the terminal. It seems that in a restaurant, if the food is delicious, everything is forgiven. The tuna, eel, and beef were all decent. However, the salmon tasted a bit lacking in fat, which was disappointing. This was the most disappointing sushi of the 12-piece set. And the tuna gills we eat in Korea... Well, wherever I go, the taste and texture are always disappointing. After finishing the sushi, the complimentary potato croquettes? And the fish tangsuyuk, which seemed to be stir-fried in soy sauce? Beyond the taste, I was deeply grateful. They serve this to every table. Is that why it's so popular? The udon that came out as a finale had a rich broth and chewy noodles, much better than the fried udon. Store & Tips & Overall Review The store is not small, with counter and table seating. There's counter seating, making it a great place to dine alone. I visited at 8 p.m. on a weekday, and it was full, so I had to wait about five minutes. You order at your table, and pay at the counter when you leave. I stumbled upon this place after searching for it, and despite its shabby exterior, it was packed with customers. I was impressed by the five staff members. This seems to be the best sushi place in the area. If I lived nearby, I would visit it occasionally when I'm craving sushi.
세트메뉴 구성이 좋고 양이 꽤나 푸짐한 초밥집. - 사시미도 가격대비 꽤나 괜찮은 수준 - 다양하게 맛보기 좋다. - 전체적으로 음식이 맛있음!
