Japanese cuisine has deep roots in Seoul, shaped by geographic proximity and a long shared history. Seoul-style Japanese restaurants range from affordable sushi conveyor belts and ramen shops to high-end omakase counters. Quality fish is flown in daily, and Korean chefs often put their own spin on Japanese classics — thicker broths, spicier condiments, and seasonal Korean ingredients woven into traditional recipes.
Jung-gu sits at the geographic and commercial center of Seoul, encompassing Myeongdong (K-beauty and street food), Namdaemun Market, and the financial district. The food here spans the full range — from tourist-facing street stalls in Myeongdong to understated lunch joints serving office workers, and traditional Korean restaurants that have operated for decades without needing to advertise.

Very cosy little cafe, nothing fancy. Very simple and smiling staff. It was near our hotel, therefore we went back 2 days in arow to have breakfast and coffee. Their bagels never fail. They have coffee smells and taste delicious. I also had the sweet potato latte. Something I don't see often, worth trying. Not too sweet, but I had a little aromatic of sweet potato. Pretty interesting, you may try if you like sweet potato like me.
I was googling for seafood place and come across this. For those who read this, go and download the Naver Map and use that instead of Google map. There are more reviews there, however most of the review are in korean. The map's review are alittle more accurate than Google. It's a small shop, probably can house about 15 to 20 people, however it is quite tight in space due to the size of the shop. The owner (I presume) seems to be in his 60s at least. Very friendly chap and because I couldn't speak Korean, I pointed to him the mixed seafood photo of what others ordered. The mixed seafood comes with mussel soup though. There are a few seafood I ate which I am totally unsure of but it tasted fresh. Worth a try! Total cosy, 30,000won.
