About 한식

Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.

About Jongno-Gu

Jongno-gu is the historic heart of Seoul, containing Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, and Insadong's antique street. The area balances ancient and modern — traditional Korean restaurants, teahouses, and street food vendors operate alongside contemporary galleries and specialty coffee shops. Eating here feels like a connection to centuries of Seoul food culture.

(August 2025) Finally got our hands on this hype place in Seoul 'Muguok' and we're lucky to get a window seats by chance, which elevated our dining experience. We ordered the [1] Signature North Korean style samgyetang rice set. Portion was decent and presentation was okay, but overall felt a bit overrated. My friend mentioned there’s better samgyetang options around Myeongdong. What didn’t work for me was the gravy or thicc soup... it just wasn’t it. Probably I'm just not use to the taste. Overall, not bad, chicken is tender, but probably wouldn’t specially come back for it. — 이북식 삼계백반 Signature North Korean style samgyetang rice set ⭐⭐⭐

A very busy but we'll organized restaurant serving special chicken dishes. The meat is very tender but watch out for the spicy braised chicken, medium sized portion is huge and...very spicy! Also it is a very meat oriented menu so prepare your stomach. Ambience is tasteful, location is an old renovated traditional house. The line goes pretty fast so don't go far if you are in the queue on CatchTable (20 parties means about 30-40 minutes waiting time).

Oh my days. We tried getting a seat for this restaurant in another location and failed twice, but all that was worthwhile. The food was absolutely incredible. We tried their fermented soybean paste chicken (Cheongguk Dakdoritang) and it was very flavourful and the chicken was very tender, able to be easily taken off from the bone due to the long period of boiling the chicken. We also had a portion of their famous Samgyetang, and the soup was WAY different from what we expected. The soup was very thick, and extremely packed with the flavour of the chicken. The side dippings paired perfectly with the chicken, giving a new taste for every bite. Do take note that the queue for taking a table does start at 1030, so in order to have a sure chance of getting in during the first batch, ensure that you come ard 15 to 20 mins earlier as there is quite the queue for the restaurant. This restaurant lives up to the hype! Would highly recommend this!
