"If it's not delicious, don't come!"
1. As a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) enthusiast, this place has long been on my must-visit list. It was even briefly featured on Life Master and Hidden Food Month, so how could I not be curious?
2. Upon visiting, I discovered that it's a tiny, semi-basement shop, just like I've seen on TV and in reviews. Through the kitchen window, I can clearly see people passing by in the alley, and the owner even speaks to them. Residents poke their heads out, checking in on each other and chatting. An elderly woman comes into the tteokbokki shop and offers four eggs for 5,000 won. It's not your typical bustling snack bar, but rather a place that blends seamlessly into the neighborhood, almost like a part of it.
3. Upon entering, I see the mother owner busying herself with tteokbokki in a large wok. They make and sell batches like this, but even when they make a full batch, they sell out quickly due to the high number of take-out customers. It takes about 20 minutes to make a single batch, and they ask customers to wait another 20 minutes when they first start making. This means you can always eat their tteokbokki at its most delicious. You'll never have stale or soft tteokbokki.
4. The presentation is truly simple. The slightly viscous broth is made with incredibly fine red pepper powder, giving it a translucent appearance. This restaurant actually makes it with just water, red pepper powder, sugar, rice cakes, fish cakes, and green onions. Yet, the flavor is surprisingly amazing.
5. The broth is sweet, yet sharp and cleanly spicy, making it refreshing. It's a transparent spiciness without any hint of harshness. It's the epitome of pure, refreshing spiciness, without the typical nutty flavor of red pepper powder.
6. The savory flavor is just right. Perhaps the flavor comes from the fish cake, but judging by the incredibly rich and chewy texture of this restaurant's fish cake, it's likely Busan fish cake with a high fish content. Despite using store-bought rice cakes instead of mill-made ones, the texture is perfectly soft and chewy. The essence of wheat rice cake. Add to that the perfectly peeled, pure-white boiled eggs. They seem so ordinary, yet they harmonize, like a miniature universe, creating an incredible flavor. This is where I first experienced the concept of "delicious spiciness."
7. For 4,000 won, the portion is incredibly generous, and the ingredients are top-notch. How could it be anything but delicious? The mother's pride in her tteokbokki is truly remarkable. When I tell her how delicious it is, she says that despite all the care put into making it, some people still nag. To those people, they say, "If it's not tasty, don't come" or "Make it yourself at home." Haha
While eating this delicious tteokbokki, I couldn't help but nod in agreement at the cool mother's remarks.
8. At the next table, two middle-aged men and a young woman came and said they'd been craving this flavor and were enjoying it immensely. I chuckled to myself when I saw their iHQ IDs around their necks. As expected, the people behind "Delicious Guys" know a thing or two about delicious food... ^^
PS: It doesn't taste that spicy at first, but it gets even spicier. It's the spiciness of our delicious Taeyangcho and Cheongyang peppers. Eggs are a must, but if you can't handle spicy food, you'll need at least two.

The taste of tteokbokki is unmatched anywhere. I fully understand that the grandmother is having a hard time, but the business days and hours are not fixed, so there are many times when you make a wasted trip. As for the service atmosphere, I don't recommend you to expect much.
