The unique interior, adorned with small display stands, immediately caught my eye. Every dish served on them was exceptional. The most memorable was the tender cutlassfish paired with a fragrant Korean herb sauce — its distinctive aroma beautifully complemented the fish. The 45-year-aged soy sauce served with the caviar was truly special as well.
The layered kimchi served midway acted as a perfect Korean-style palate cleanser, refreshing my mouth before the main dishes. The service from the staff was warm, attentive, and made the entire dining experience incredibly comfortable. I would absolutely love to come back again.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for YuJin, the front desk manager, Seung Joo, the wine sommelier, and the entire culinary team for making my experience truly exceptional. YuJin’s professionalism, attentiveness, and calm confidence immediately made me feel welcomed and well cared for from the moment I arrived. Seung Joo’s expertise and genuine passion for wine were equally impressive—each recommendation was thoughtfully tailored and elevated every meal beautifully. The food itself was outstanding, with refined flavors, excellent balance, and elegant presentation, clearly reflecting great skill and attention to detail. Together, the seamless service, exceptional wine pairings, and high-quality cuisine created a warm, refined, and truly memorable experience.

Our dinner at Kwonsookoo, Seoul was a major disappointment and absolutely unworthy of its Michelin 2-star status.
• Unprofessional start: Just 40 minutes before our confirmed reservation, the restaurant emailed us to delay our arrival because they were “not ready.” This is unacceptable for any fine-dining establishment, let alone one with Michelin stars. The communication was confusing and unnecessary—had we arrived on time, they could have simply apologized and seated us to relax.
• Poor service management: We were handed the chef’s tasting menu, only to be told we had already missed the order cutoff. If that was the case, the menu should not have been presented at all.
• Rushed service: Staff presented the bill while we were still eating the petit four, essentially chasing us out before we had finished. We noticed the same treatment at other tables, which completely undermines the fine-dining experience.
• Overall failure: The food lacked refinement and creativity, the wine pairing was uninspired, and the atmosphere felt ordinary. Nothing matched the prestige they claim to hold.
• Not worth the price: The cost of both food and wine was unjustifiable given the quality of ingredients and selections offered. We are happy to pay premium prices when the standard is met—but here, it simply was not.
Kwonsookoo may hold accolades, but based on our experience, they do not deserve them. If you expect true Michelin-level dining, look elsewhere.
