About 한식

Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.

About Yongsan-Gu

Yongsan-gu contains Itaewon — Seoul's most international neighbourhood — as well as the scenic Hannam district and Yongsan Electronics Market. Itaewon's food scene reflects its global community: Indian, Middle Eastern, African, and American restaurants share streets with high-end Korean and Japanese establishments. It's also where many of Seoul's foreign chefs have set up their most ambitious projects.

This authentic Korean restaurant serves food you really have to be able to appreciate. As a non Korean or Asian for that matter I'm not used to the way the crab is served. My fiancé and her mother is and they went at it like it was their last meal.

I visited this restaurant with my family after seeing it featured on TV multiple times, but it was disappointing in every way — the taste, cleanliness, and service were all below expectations. The marinated crab had an sour taste, and the side dishes were minimal and unimpressive. It made me realize that TV shows are basically just advertisements. They didn’t offer refills for the side dishes, and the soup was self-serve — but most of the bowls were dirty, with chili powder still stuck on them. This was the restaurant I was most looking forward to during my trip to Korea, but I will never go back. Don’t be fooled by TV shows — they don’t reflect reality.

It’s a fantastic soy marinated crab restaurant that has won many awards. I got the soy marinated crab with crab roe which comes with the marinated shrimp, and spicy marinated crab. They also have self serve seaweed soup and congee. The crab is very briny, got tons of flavour, and the roe has deep sea flavour which is amazing when you eat it with rice! The crabs are also full of meat and they just melt in your mouth. It’s a bit expensive - about $35 for marinated crab with roe - but the portions and flavour is worth the price for me. The interior is quite spacious and the servers are friendly. I highly recommend if you enjoy raw marinated crabs.
