About Seongbuk-Gu

Seongbuk-gu is home to Bukchon's quieter neighbour and Seoul's most literary neighbourhood, with independent bookshops and traditional restaurants tucked between old residential alleys. Ssangmun-dong's street food markets and the traditional teahouses of Samcheong-dong are highlights of this culturally rich but less-touristed district.

I didn't realize there was a stew place like this on the second floor. The portions are generous, and the taste reminds me of old-fashioned food.

A hidden gem. The delicacy here is kimchi stew. I haven't tried the kimchi stew. It's not that the kimchi stew is particularly special, but rather that it's a place that prepares dishes with care, just like a mother's home-cooked meal. Of all the restaurants near Sungshin Women's University Station, there are probably only a few that prepare their food with such care. Just because the food isn't special doesn't mean it's mediocre. This place epitomizes kimchi stew, and the prices are reasonable. I highly recommend it again. The white-toned interior makes it feel a bit odd at first, like a long-established restaurant. But the opposite is true.

All the prices on the menu on the wall are for one serving, but they are very reasonable and affordable even by Korean standards. We ordered three servings, but it was a bit too much for three people to eat with rice, so it might be better to order one less dish per person and then order individual dishes so you can enjoy a wider variety of dishes. The kimchi stew was made with an abundance of ripe kimchi and Korean pork, and we were overwhelmed not only by the taste but also by the sheer volume of ingredients. We didn't know the quantity and even added ramen noodles, so we were exhausted from eating it all. All of this came to a very reasonable 25,000 won for three people.
