Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.
Seongbuk-gu is home to Bukchon's quieter neighbour and Seoul's most literary neighbourhood, with independent bookshops and traditional restaurants tucked between old residential alleys. Ssangmun-dong's street food markets and the traditional teahouses of Samcheong-dong are highlights of this culturally rich but less-touristed district.

View all →We had delicious pork ribs at a reasonable price. My whole family was satisfied. Usually, pork ribs are served in a sweet soy sauce, but here, there was barely any sauce, and it was delicious without being too sweet. I'd definitely return if I'm back in Daehakro.
It is worth visiting for the pork ribs. The cold noodles and soybean paste stew were also good. The basic side dishes are decent, and they are fairly diverse for a meat restaurant.
Great food, well maintained facilities(the goods that suck up the smoke are very efficient) and the washrooms are wonderfully clean. A little pricey but overall excellent place that seems to be a favourite with the locals
