Daeseong Restaurant is famous for its octopus stew. I visit occasionally when I'm near the Jongno Sewoon Shopping Center. It seems the restaurant has expanded a bit, and they now offer table service. Nakgopsae is a stew made with octopus, tripe, and shrimp, which you boil yourself and mix with rice. I always feel this way when I visit Daeseong Restaurant: the ingredients are fresh and the flavor is clean. I ordered a single serving of nakgopsae, which costs 11,000 won. It was delicious.

I went there based on word of mouth, reminiscing about the old Sehun Shopping Mall, but it's not as amazing as the rumors suggest. Even with a reservation, the wait is long. I don't recommend it for groups. It's good for lunch for 2-3 people. The basic 3-course meal is self-service. The radish salad is delicious, but very salty. The bathroom is inconvenient. It's even more delicious if you make your own nakgopse and fried rice with scorched rice. I recommend adding ramen noodles to the broth, which becomes refreshing as the fresh cabbage cooks.

This place was also recommended to me. I had the impression that there weren't many places to eat nakgopse in Seoul, so I was glad to find it. It had a very local feel and a completely different atmosphere from Myeongdong, where Japanese is spoken everywhere (it was in a back alley). The food was also great. When I left the restaurant, there were several groups waiting in line, so I was lucky to be able to skip the queue.
