Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.
Jongno-gu is the historic heart of Seoul, containing Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, and Insadong's antique street. The area balances ancient and modern — traditional Korean restaurants, teahouses, and street food vendors operate alongside contemporary galleries and specialty coffee shops. Eating here feels like a connection to centuries of Seoul food culture.

View all →— Got the steamed pork bossam here along with the kalguksu noodles and pajeon. It’s a popular lunch spot among those who work in the Jong-ro area so we went by on a weekday for lunch, just before 2pm hoping for less crowd and minimal waiting. We found an empty table right away and the food was served very fast (just as we were taking out the utensils from the box). We got the bigger portion of bossam and one kalguksu and the seafood pajeon to share between two pax.
It’s traditional restaurant. I think it’s overvalued. I was very surprised because there were so many people. I think we waited around 15 min. They have great price for noodle and steamed pork. The staffs are older person, i think they didn’t do their job right. But the noodle was good and they served noodle devided by person. The pork was very thick but smooth.
