15 min walk from Gunja Station Station.
Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.
Gwangjin-gu's Konkuk University area has a dense concentration of restaurants catering to students — affordable, diverse, and open late. The area is a reliable destination for budget Korean dining: tteokbokki, kimbap, and pork cutlet restaurants line the streets near the university gates.

Overall Review ☆☆☆☆ This sundae soup restaurant is quietly tucked away in the tofu alley at the foot of Achasan Mountain. I finally found this truly authentic sundae soup place. The broth is simply simmered, the side dishes are made with the taste of a grandmother's cooking, and the warm service of the mother and son owners complete a delightful meal. Since this is a restaurant run by a grandmother, the hygiene standards are a bit lacking;; 1. Food ☆☆☆☆☆ The food at this restaurant is unadorned and natural, and while it's simple, it's heartfelt. [Sundae Soup] ☆☆☆☆☆ The broth is a perfectly balanced pork bone broth with all the impurities removed. It's not a powdered broth that adds a smooth, savory flavor, but rather a natural, unadulterated flavor. (Depending on your taste, you might find it a bit bland, like Pyongyang Naengmyeon.) Perhaps that's why it's served with a little salt and perilla seed powder. For those who prefer a lighter diet, it's perfectly seasoned. It's generously filled with sundae, intestines, and head meat. The roughly prepared head meat has a perfect fat-to-fat ratio, transforming the broth's mild flavor into a rich, savory one. The intestines are also free of any offal. The only slight disappointment is that the sundae is factory-made. Seasoning it with a little salted shrimp adds a savory flavor, deepening the flavor. The minced chili pepper isn't overly spicy, so a small spoonful adds a savory kick to the broth. They also serve a generous portion of steamed rice. The rice is nice and chewy. [Side Dishes] ☆☆☆☆☆ The perfectly ripe, sour radish kimchi is uniquely shaped, creating a charming atmosphere. The cabbage kimchi is refreshing, with a strong red pepper powder flavor and almost no saltiness, a refreshing "geotjeori" (spicy kimchi). Both are made in-house. They also serve a generous portion of raw garlic, and the garlic is perfectly trimmed, stems clean, without a single mushy spot. Just looking at the garlic trimmings reveals their dedication to the ingredients. 2. Service ☆☆☆☆ The owner, a grandmother who was sitting in a cool, breezy spot, offered her a seat and told me to sit down because it was cooler. She was very friendly. The male owner doesn't say much, but his tone and manner are very friendly. He quietly lowered the air conditioner and even placed a fan to help the air flow through before leaving. However, the only thing that was a bit disappointing was the sanitary condition of the water bottles and seasoning containers. While the cutlery and utensils were clean, the water bottles and seasoning containers didn't seem to be cleaned daily. 3. Atmosphere ☆☆☆☆ It had a somewhat old-fashioned feel to it. It seemed like it had been in business for quite some time. Behind the curtain on one side of the store, there's a wooden floor where the elderly owner can lie down and relax. It was quiet in the early morning, but on weekends and afternoons, when many hikers descend from Achasan Mountain, the place gets bustling with people enjoying a glass of makgeolli.
