Sacheonjin Port
사천진항
Sacheonjin Port is located at the confluence of Sacheoncheon, which flows eastward from a watershed split in the Baekdudaegan range, and the sea. As a relatively small port, the rocky coastline is underdeveloped, so ship berths and pier facilities are installed on a small scale. Unlike other ports, it is also a great place to enjoy yachting.
During the Joseon Dynasty, it was called Sahwajin (沙火津), and later, what was Sahwahwa became Sacheon-myeon. In 1916, during administrative district reorganization, Aeildang-ri, Haenggaedeul, Gonebul, Dwiseom, and Solmaji were merged to form Sacheon Jin-ri. It was designated as a Class 1 fishing port in 1971, construction began in 1982, and it was completed in 1988. About 70 households are engaged in fishing, and scallop farming—catching flatfish, sheepfish, octopuses, and more—is also actively practiced for high income.
