This is a well-organized, classic department store with a good mix of mid-to-high-end fashion, beauty & lifestyle brands. Across the street, Lotte World Mall offers a bigger variety of shops, dining & entertainment — including the aquarium & connection to Seoul Sky. Both are convenient to explore, depending on whether you want focused shopping or a wider mall experience.

It is a large complex with a wide variety of shops, and its integrated indoor adventure world makes it a notable destination for families. While the store offers extensive shopping options, the overall interior and building decorations feel a bit aged and not as modern as some newer retail spaces. The supermarket on the premises is also not particularly cheap for everyday goods.
The standout feature for us was the ice rink. Its layout is excellent for families, as the rink is surrounded by ample seating. The open design allows you to comfortably rest, converse freely, and take clear photos of children skating, which is a significant advantage over rinks that are separated by glass. It's a wonderful spot to relax and enjoy the lively atmosphere.
In addition, while this department store may feel a bit dated compared to newer shopping centers, its greatest advantage is the seamless underground connection to the modern Lotte World Tower and Lotte World Mall. This integration allows you to easily access a vast, contemporary complex that includes a wide range of luxury brands, the spectacular Seoul Sky observatory, Lotte World Aquarium, and more. The connected complex truly offers a complete day of shopping, entertainment, and dining, making the area a destination for all ages.

Christmas Winter in Lotte Department Store Jamsil & Lotte World: A Full Day Experience Worth Repeating
My husband and I spent an entire day around Lotte Department Store Jamsil and Lotte World, and it ended up being one of my favorite days in Seoul. What I loved most is how everything is connected and thoughtfully designed, from shopping, food, and entertainment all flow into one seamless experience.
🛍️ Lotte Department Store Jamsil
Getting here was incredibly easy since it’s directly connected to Jamsil Station. I didn’t even need to step outside, which was a huge plus, especially after a long morning of sightseeing and considering it was winter with zero degree temperatures outside.
Inside, the department store feels very “classic Korea.” It may not look ultra-modern like some newer malls, but that actually made it feel more comfortable and less overwhelming. I browsed through fashion, cosmetics, and lifestyle sections, and it was nice seeing both international brands and Korean labels in one place. The luxury section is impressive, but even if you’re not shopping for high-end items, it’s still enjoyable to walk around.
One of my favorite parts was taking breaks at the cafés and food areas. There are so many options that it’s easy to turn a shopping trip into a relaxed experience rather than a rushed one. Staff members were polite and helpful, even with the language barrier, which I really appreciated.
🎡 Lotte World & Magic Island
After shopping, we headed straight to Lotte World, which is literally just next door and connected underground. The moment you step inside, it feels like entering a completely different world.
What surprised me most is how massive the indoor park is. Even if the weather is bad, you can easily spend hours inside. The rides are a good mix, some are gentle and fun, while others are genuinely exciting. I tried the rodeo and enjoyed hunting bandits in 3D, even if we were the only 40-year olds in a sea of children in the room. I was not able to go to other rides due to the long lines.
Going out to Magic Island felt like a highlight. Seeing the rides set against the lake and city skyline was beautiful, especially later in the day. It’s one of those places that feels fun even if you’re just walking around and soaking in the atmosphere.
That said, crowds are real, especially in the afternoon. Lines can get long, and food inside the park is on the pricey side. My advice is to arrive early, prioritize the rides you really want, and pace yourself.
🍔 Food, Comfort & Little Details
Between the department store and Lotte World, you’ll never go hungry. I liked having the option to step out of the park for better food choices or just a quieter place to rest. Restrooms were clean, signage was decent, and despite the crowds, everything felt organized and safe.
🌟 Final Thoughts
What makes this place special is how it brings everything together. You can shop in the morning, enjoy a proper meal in the afternoon, and end the day screaming on roller coasters or watching the lights come on at Magic Island.
It’s perfect for families, couples, solo travelers, or anyone who wants a full, varied day without traveling all over Seoul. Yes, it gets busy, but that’s part of the energy. I would honestly go back again, especially on a weekday or during a seasonal event.
Highly recommended if you want convenience, variety, and a genuinely fun day in Seoul. 🎠
