Mangnidan-gil Bakery Tour: Gumigadang Salt Bread Review

I couldn’t leave Mangnidan-gil without picking up some bakery treats.

One of the most talked-about spots right now is Gumigadang.

---

📍 Location & Basic Info

Location: 75 Poeun-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul (Mangwon-dong / Mangnidan-gil area)

Hours: Tue–Sun 12:00–19:00 (Closed on Mondays)

This small bakery has become a must-visit for people doing a “bread pilgrimage” in Seoul. It’s especially famous for its salt bread, which many reviews describe as “buttery enough to literally drip.”

---

⏳ Waiting Time & Tips

The shop itself is tiny. Even with just five people inside, it feels completely full. Because of that, there’s almost always a line—even for takeout.

I visited on a Saturday afternoon and waited about 30 minutes. There isn’t much to do nearby while waiting, so it’s best to stay close. I considered going to another bakery, but the lines looked even longer, so I came back.

When your turn comes up on Catch Table, make sure to enter quickly—your spot can be canceled if you’re late.

---

🥐 What to Try (Menu Highlights)

Salt Bread: The signature item. Super buttery, rich aroma, and still soft even the next day.

Egg Tart: My personal favorite. Great balance of texture and flavor.

Sausage Pastry & Croissant: Light, crispy, and more on the savory side—perfect for a simple meal.

Fig Cranberry Ciabatta: Mild outside but packed with flavor inside. Best eaten right away.

There are also many creative variations of their salt bread, all looking very tempting.

---

☕ Atmosphere & Experience

There is a small seating area, but realistically, this is a grab-and-go bakery. Most people quickly choose, take photos, and leave.

They also sell coffee and lattes, but the focus is definitely on takeaway.

A nice touch: since the salt bread is served fresh and hot, they pack it with the bag slightly open and give a warning—small but thoughtful detail.

⭐ Overall Review

Even with a 30-minute wait, Gumigadang was worth visiting. Other bakeries nearby seemed to have even longer lines, and we ended up finishing our bakery tour here.

We only visited two bakeries, but Mangnidan-gil is a fun area for a casual bakery tour. Prices are also reasonable, making it easy to enjoy without 부담. → without feeling like it’s too expensive or overwhelming.

If you love bread, this neighborhood is definitely worth exploring.
