About 한식

Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.

About Songpa-Gu

Songpa-gu includes Jamsil, Olympic Park, and Lotte World Tower — one of the world's tallest buildings and a major tourism hub. The food scene is family-friendly and commercially vibrant: department store food halls, international chains, and Korean comfort food restaurants that cater to the large residential population. Lotte World Mall's food floor alone contains dozens of notable dining options.

I visited Geumgeum, a fusion Korean restaurant located on Songridan-gil in Songpa-gu, for a meal. I ordered one of their signature dishes, barley soybean paste meat noodles (Korean-style mazesoba). However, instead of chashu, it was topped with plain boiled pork, and was generously topped with fried tofu and green onions. The generous amount of minced meat, combined with the chewy Chinese-style noodles, created a rich, satisfying texture. The flavor was subtle, with a hint of soybean paste, a slightly spicy finish, and a hint of seasoning. The soybean paste flavor wasn't overpowering, but its subtle flavor brought out the savory flavors of the ingredients. After finishing the noodles, I ordered complimentary rice and mixed it with the remaining sauce, enjoying a new flavor that was distinct from the noodles. Even with the rice, the portion was generous enough to make a satisfying meal. There wasn't one. If you're looking to try a unique Korean fusion menu on Songridan-gil, this is a place worth stopping by.

I have tried 2 plates as a solo traveler. The staff help me pick the main plate as 1) Barley Soybean Paste Meat Noodles = is a noodle with salty minced-pork sauce with fried tofu, a bit salty but better when you mixed them with eeg yolk on top. You can also add the rice to make it completely finish. รสชาติเหมือนกินอุด้งน้ำพริกอ่องนิดนึง 2) Crispy Monkfish with Chamnamul Tartar = I can assure you that the batter is right. It just right. Together with fresh fish with tartar at the bottom. Sooooooo great. The tartar is quite distinguish. The staff is nice, she helped me get in the line because I don’t have Korean phone number. The price is higher than I expected. Overall is good for me and would like to come back again.
