Seongsu Station駅から徒歩29分.
Japanese cuisine has deep roots in Seoul, shaped by geographic proximity and a long shared history. Seoul-style Japanese restaurants range from affordable sushi conveyor belts and ramen shops to high-end omakase counters. Quality fish is flown in daily, and Korean chefs often put their own spin on Japanese classics — thicker broths, spicier condiments, and seasonal Korean ingredients woven into traditional recipes.
Seongdong-gu's Seongsu-dong has transformed from an industrial zone into Seoul's most talked-about food and culture district. Nicknamed 'Seoul's Brooklyn,' it hosts artisan roasters, pop-up restaurants, and concept cafés in renovated factories alongside high-end boutiques. The food scene rewards curiosity — the best spots are often down an alleyway or behind an unmarked door.
I had high expectations because there were so many customers, but it was just the right amount of clear pork soup. I've had pork soup about three times now, and even at good restaurants, I still prefer sundae soup. It's a little greasy. The interior is cramped.
I personally love clear pork soup, so I often visit Okdongsik, and since I happened to come across a clear pork soup in Wangsimni, I decided to visit. I made a reservation for a catch table and waited about 5-10 minutes before getting in. The space is cramped. It almost felt a little cramped. Also, I always order a side dish with my soup, but other than dumplings, they didn't have any. I wish they had boiled pork or boiled pork. The space is also cramped, and there aren't any side dishes. Honestly, I don't understand why they even serve alcohol. While there are a certain age group that enjoys drinking, the atmosphere, the fullness of the soup, and the quality of the side dishes are definitely not for that age group. Beyond the taste, it seems like the target audience is completely different. The food itself isn't bad, but it's a little disappointing.
The taste of the soup was as refined as the interior. The spicy and refreshing broth was truly impressive. The owner was friendly, and the kimchi was just the right amount of fermented and delicious. My girlfriend had the Yutae soup, but after trying my spicy soup, she said she wanted to try the spicy soup next time she came! I'd definitely come back!
