I found this restaurant near Yeongdeungpo District Office with a friend who was studying hard even during vacation. This neighborhood is a residential commercial district, but I wasn't familiar with it, so I stumbled upon it while browsing around the Dangsan area. The fact that they offered two seemingly indistinguishable signature dishes—dongtae jjigae (dried pollack stew) and dakbokkeumtang (spicy stir-fried chicken)—piqued my curiosity. Both are perfect winter drinking accompaniments, so I went in undecided. Following the sign, I found the restaurant on the second floor. It had a long-established feel, but it was smaller than I expected, and the cleanliness was impressive. The menu was reasonably priced, with a focus on meal options. Later, it was too cold to go for a second round, so I decided to just end it here. Instead of the dongtae jjigae, I ordered the generous portion of dakbokkeumtang (spicy stir-fried chicken). The side dishes that followed were generally decent, reminiscent of a restaurant serving a variety of rice and side dishes. The dakbokkeumtang was only about 20% cooked, requiring constant simmering. The generous use of minced garlic and red pepper powder stood out. With the abundance of vegetables like leeks and onions, I expected the soup to be sweet. However, perhaps due to the generous addition of red pepper powder, the soup wasn't as sweet as I'd expected. It felt sharper than I expected, and instead leaned toward the refreshing side. I enjoyed the soup alone, enjoying some rice cakes as a side dish. The chicken didn't seem to be large, but they cut it into small pieces, making it easy to eat. The meat was chewy and tender, and as the broth simmered, the sweetness and savory flavors gradually infused the meat, leaving it perfectly balanced. I scooped out the potatoes at the end, and they were cooked to a soft, fluffy texture, melting in my mouth with a subtle sweetness. While not a particularly impressive dish, it was a clean, simple braised chicken dish, and I left satisfied.

It feels like an old-fashioned restaurant... Don't expect much from the side dishes... They're a bit salty. The pollack stew is refreshing and delicious. The stir-fried squid is also a good mix of vegetables, and it's a bit sweet and spicy (I personally wish it was a bit spicier). The taste? It's okay. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is friendly.

When I ate it earlier this year, there was a whole bowl of rice, but now it's gone in a few spoonfuls. The pollack soup is just seasoned broth. And I really don't recommend the pork. It seems like someone who doesn't know how to make pork is making it. It's like stir-fried pork with gochujang sauce, and even then, the taste is very poor.
