Seocho-gu — home to Seoul's arts corridor, the Supreme Court, and upscale residential areas — has a refined dining culture to match its address. Garosugil in Seocho is particularly known for its café-lined tree canopy street. Restaurants here tend toward the polished and premium, often with outdoor terraces and wine lists to match.
I ate Gan-jjajang, Samseon-jjamppong, and Chinese cold noodles. The Jjamppong was a delicious, hotel-style dish with the seasoning well absorbed into the noodles. The Chinese cold noodles were also satisfying, with a strong black vinegar aroma and good umami flavor. However, the texture of the Gan-jjajang was not Gan-jjajang at all... It felt like they just scooped out regular Jjajangmyeon and stir-fried it; I even had to ask if it was really Gan-jjajang. The answer was that it is supposed to be like this.

A famous and long-standing Chinese restaurant near Isu Station. It's always crowded with office workers after work, so I stopped by during the holiday break. I had a Sichuan seafood rice bowl for a solo meal. Spicy and smoky Sichuan sauce with seafood like squid, shrimp, sea cucumber, and abalone, along with vegetables like mushrooms, bell peppers, and onions, all perfectly sautéed, creating a delicious, melt-in-your-mouth flavor. The owner, who greeted me warmly, still has his same baritone voice. It was a delicious meal after a long time. 😁 Please visit the Bearded Boy YouTube channel often. 🧔
After we sat down and ordered, they brought us warm tea. The menu simply lists the country of origin, and there are separate lunch and dinner courses. The person who recommended this Chinese restaurant recommended the whole squid jjambbong and the special jjapbbong rice bowl. I chose the special jjapbbong rice bowl (16,000 won). I don't like a slimy texture, but it looked delicious. They served a red broth, but it was so lightly seasoned that I couldn't tell if it was jjapbbong or not. The seafood and vegetables were all fresh and had a nice chewy texture. The seasoning was a bit bland, so if you leave some rice, it's a good option for those on a diet. The whole squid jjambbong (14,000 won) that my companion ordered looked delicious, perhaps because it had a whole squid in it. The squid was also plump and tender. The mild flavor allows you to taste the natural flavors of the ingredients, so the Jjamppong is definitely a healthy option. The interior is square, with a room on one side, giving it the feel of a long square. It's clean and neat. It's perfect for eating alone. The taste was bland at first, so I didn't find it particularly appetizing, but the quality of the ingredients and the satisfying texture make it a place I'll always want to visit. I'd go back again if someone asked me to. If you're looking for healthy, light Chinese food, or if you're craving Chinese food while on a diet, I highly recommend this place.
