Fast food in Seoul goes beyond the international chains that line main streets. Korean fried chicken brands, burger joints using Korean beef, and kimbap shops that operate at the speed of fast food have created a parallel fast-food culture that is distinctly local. Food courts in subway stations and department basements serve hot meals with the speed and consistency of fast food but often with the quality of a sit-down restaurant.
Seocho-gu — home to Seoul's arts corridor, the Supreme Court, and upscale residential areas — has a refined dining culture to match its address. Garosugil in Seocho is particularly known for its café-lined tree canopy street. Restaurants here tend toward the polished and premium, often with outdoor terraces and wine lists to match.
This is how you run a restaurant. Amazing food, and super fast service despite having only around 5-6 workers. Everything about this place just screams 5 star to me. Highly recommend.
My wife and I visited Katsukobang Seocho Main Branch for a lunch date. Based on the positive reviews, we had high expectations and ordered the hirekatsu, my wife's demi-glace cutlet, and the mini cold soba noodles. ✨ The hirekatsu was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, melting in your mouth! It's the epitome of crispy-on-the-skin tonkatsu. The demi-glace cutlet sauce had a unique, yet addictive, flavor, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The mini cold soba noodles had a refreshing flavor that paired perfectly with the tonkatsu. 😋 The clean and organized atmosphere made for a comfortable dining experience. The assorted katsu and gyudon were absolutely delicious! I was truly satisfied with the assorted katsu and gyudon I tried at Katsu Kobo. The assorted katsu had a wonderful combination of crispy batter and juicy meat. I especially enjoyed being able to sample several different types of katsu at once, and the meat had a tender texture and a wonderfully savory flavor. The gyudon was a delicious combination of tender beef and sweet soy sauce, and eating it with rice was filling and uplifting. The soup that came with the set was also delicious, so overall, I was very satisfied. The service was friendly, and the food came out quickly, so I didn't have to wait long. This is a restaurant I'll definitely be visiting often!
