Japanese cuisine has deep roots in Seoul, shaped by geographic proximity and a long shared history. Seoul-style Japanese restaurants range from affordable sushi conveyor belts and ramen shops to high-end omakase counters. Quality fish is flown in daily, and Korean chefs often put their own spin on Japanese classics — thicker broths, spicier condiments, and seasonal Korean ingredients woven into traditional recipes.
Gwanak-gu's university population (Seoul National University is the dominant anchor) drives a food scene of affordable restaurants, study cafés, and late-night delivery options. The local food culture is young, budget-conscious, and diverse — students from across Korea bring their regional food preferences and the restaurant scene reflects this variety.
The sushi and sashimi here are absolutely delicious! We were so glad we came here! This is the best sushi we've ever had, the fish is delicious and fresh, and the portions are huge. The service is attentive and thoughtful, thank you for dinner!
This place serves fresh and affordable sushi. I usually have the salmon feast set for two, which comes with salmon sashimi, 4 types of salmon sushi (3 pieces each), salmon sashimi salad, fried breaded prawns and hot pot rice. All this for just 42,000 KRW. What’s more? The portions are really generous. Each piece of salmon is huge, almost twice the size of other restaurants. Highly recommended.
