Dongjak-gu spans the southern bank of the Han River, with Noryangjin Fish Market — one of Seoul's largest wholesale and retail seafood markets — as its defining food landmark. Eating fresh sashimi at the market itself, surrounded by tanks of live seafood, is a quintessential Seoul experience available around the clock.
The atmosphere was perfect for a casual meal, even if you're alone. The rice and soup were self-service, which was nice. The pork cutlet was thick and well-cooked. It was very satisfying for the price. However, I wouldn't recommend the cheese pork cutlet. The batter was overdone, almost like rice cake. Still, the basic pork cutlet was excellent, so I think I'll be back often.
It's affordable and delicious. I ordered three pieces of cheese donkatsu, but I think I could have ordered two instead. I couldn't finish it all and had some left. It's much bigger than the photo on the menu shows. You can get unlimited soup, rice, and other side dishes. The cold noodles are also delicious.
This tonkatsu restaurant offers generous portions, great flavor, and great value. I didn't expect much because of the low price, but the tonkatsu was surprisingly thick, crispy on the outside, and tender. You can even refill your rice and soup. I also really like that the tonkatsu isn't served with sauce poured over it, but it's served separately. The naengmyeon (cold noodles) is decent, but the udon is smaller than the other options and just average, so I wouldn't recommend it. It's a great place to grab a hearty, delicious meal in the Noryangjin area without feeling guilty. I highly recommend it.
