This place is famous for its Dongtae soup and squid side dishes. The ingredients are fresh, the portions are generous, and the taste is not artificial.

This is Daewoon Restaurant, a long-established restaurant near Gangnam Station. I had saengtae-tang (raw fish stew) and stir-fried squid and pork. It's a great place to have a drink with dinner. I think I'll especially visit on rainy or chilly days. It's a great place to meet old friends! The owner is super friendly.

Revisited in mid-July 2025
I visited around February and ordered monkfish stew and other dishes for a drink.
But the monkfish stew wasn't as good as I'd hoped, so I didn't visit for a while.
But then I suddenly stopped by Daewoon Restaurant for dinner after my workout. As always, I added two more pollack roes and devoured them. The roe was fresh and the broth was refreshing, so I could easily finish a bowl of rice.
Revisited in late November 2024
Revisited for dinner and drinks. Ordered roe soup and pork with a glass of soju, which was a good balance. The roe soup was quite filling, so I focused on the roe. If it wasn't enough, I added roe and ate more, and I was full.
A wait started around 6 or 7 PM, and it got noisy, so I recommend going early if possible.
Daewoon Restaurant for a hangover cure and dinner. It's usually a busy place with great prices, great food, and great flavors, but it became even more popular after Sung Si-kyung's YouTube broadcast a year ago. It was crowded and there was a wait, so I couldn't go, but on a relatively quiet weekend evening, I went and had Dongtae Tang with added roe. Perhaps because the raw fish was good, the Dongtae was tender, and the roe was delicious. It was subtly spicy, and as I slurped down the soup, I was drenched in sweat, feeling all the alcohol I'd consumed the night before being expelled from my body. For a couple, the Jeyuk and Roe Tang or Jeyuk and Saengtae Tang would also be good.
