Japanese cuisine has deep roots in Seoul, shaped by geographic proximity and a long shared history. Seoul-style Japanese restaurants range from affordable sushi conveyor belts and ramen shops to high-end omakase counters. Quality fish is flown in daily, and Korean chefs often put their own spin on Japanese classics — thicker broths, spicier condiments, and seasonal Korean ingredients woven into traditional recipes.
Songpa-gu includes Jamsil, Olympic Park, and Lotte World Tower — one of the world's tallest buildings and a major tourism hub. The food scene is family-friendly and commercially vibrant: department store food halls, international chains, and Korean comfort food restaurants that cater to the large residential population. Lotte World Mall's food floor alone contains dozens of notable dining options.
It was the best sundaeguk I’ve had near Jamsil. Although I had to wait due to some customers in front of me, the ingredients were so fresh, tender, and pleasantly chewy that I was truly impressed. Most of all, the sundaeguk was absolutely delicious. The stir-fried squid we ordered alongside was spicy and full of flavor, and while the raw beef (yukhoe) was fresh, it was a bit on the tough side. I hope to visit again next time and enjoy more of their delicious food.
