Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.
Gangdong-gu in southeastern Seoul is a family-oriented district known for its community markets and traditional Korean restaurants. Cheonho Market offers one of Seoul's best selections of traditional banchan, grilled fish, and home-style Korean cooking away from the tourist circuit.
I had delicious galbitang. This is a place where 10,000 won worth of happiness comes true. The sour radish kimchi makes it even better. I didn't think the galbi was particularly lacking. The noodles were a bit small, but that was okay. The chili peppers were too spicy. The burning chili peppers brought tears to my eyes after a long time. I had to drink three cups of water to calm down. Haha. It's on the way to Gwangnaru Drone Park, but there are actually many bicycle accessories stores nearby. The menu is varied, the prices are very reasonable, and they also sell alcohol. I think I'll be stopping by often.
