Japanese cuisine has deep roots in Seoul, shaped by geographic proximity and a long shared history. Seoul-style Japanese restaurants range from affordable sushi conveyor belts and ramen shops to high-end omakase counters. Quality fish is flown in daily, and Korean chefs often put their own spin on Japanese classics — thicker broths, spicier condiments, and seasonal Korean ingredients woven into traditional recipes.
Jung-gu sits at the geographic and commercial center of Seoul, encompassing Myeongdong (K-beauty and street food), Namdaemun Market, and the financial district. The food here spans the full range — from tourist-facing street stalls in Myeongdong to understated lunch joints serving office workers, and traditional Korean restaurants that have operated for decades without needing to advertise.
Excellent meal for 2 people, the atmosphere is very intimate and perfect for a couple's dinner, I highly recommend the seaweed pasta, a pure delight.
Run by a chef with a background in omakase, this place consistently maintains a consistent taste and atmosphere. It's the perfect place to end the day with delicious food and a drink under the quiet lighting. 🍣 When it comes to Iki, it's the mackerel bob sushi! Slightly cooked mackerel sits atop soft sushi rice, creating a salty yet savory flavor. With each bite, the mackerel's rich flavor and soft texture burst forth. 🍜 My favorite is the Wando Gim pasta. The salty Wando gim pairs exquisitely with the creamy pasta. The pork jowl and mustard leaf kimchi add a kick, and the alternating salty and savory flavors will keep you coming back for more. 🤤 With a wide selection of drinks, including highballs, beer, and a variety of sake, you can enjoy whatever you like. Considering the quality of the food, it's actually quite affordable. Reservations are essential, as the wait can be long!
