Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.
Yeongdeungpo-gu's Times Square mall and Yeouido financial district generate a diverse food scene of department store restaurants, business lunch spots, and the Han River cycling culture that has made outdoor food and coffee culture a fixture of the waterfront.
솥돈 문래점. Located in an alley, Exit 1 of Munrae Station on Subway Line 2. If you don't speak Korean, order one of each of the three types of grilled pork from the menu (it will cost exactly 50,000 won ₩). Credit cards are accepted. It comes with a bowl of crispy rice soup. The owner grills it for you, and the meat is very delicious.
This place is seriously amazing. The kimchi is delicious, they grill everything for you so it’s super convenient, and finishing off with the kimchi kalguksu is just perfect. The flavors practically beg for a bottle of soju!
