Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.
Geumcheon-gu, home to the G-Valley IT district, has developed a food scene driven by its young tech-worker demographic — specialty coffee, quick-service Korean and international options, and after-work drinking culture around Gasan Digital Complex.
A budaejjigae (Korean army stew) specialty chain. Located on the basement level of Byeoksan Digital Valley 5, a 10-minute walk from Exit 5 of Gasan Digital Complex Station. Songun Budaejeongol is 10,000 won, and ramen noodles are 1,000 won. Sweet flavor~ Between jeongol and budaejjigae, I'd go for the jeongol with more ham. It's a combination of two slices of homemade ham, regular ham, bacon, and sausage. The various meats enhance the savory flavor. The addition of cabbage further enhances the sweetness! With this, the broth is bound to be delicious. As expected, the broth is so delicious that you'll keep reaching for more. I love ramen noodles, but the broth here is also quite good. As part of a special(?) offer, one free noodle per table is included, but you have to pay for more if you order one for one person. So, the best price is probably for a group of two. They serve a few side dishes, and the stir-fried fish cake is a must-try. Macaroni and fish cakes are perfect for this dish! The portions are larger than you'd expect, so you can add noodles for a filling meal. However, I was a little disappointed that they didn't have ham, which I like. It's usually included in traditional budaejjigae. Store & Tips & Overall Review The store isn't small and has plenty of tables. There aren't any two-person tables, but solo dining is possible. I've tried eating solo a few times for lunch, but Fridays seem to be the busiest. The atmosphere isn't particularly friendly for solo diners, so you can feel a bit uneasy. And the overall atmosphere is subdued. Order at your table and pay at the counter when you leave. This restaurant specializes in budaejjigae and budaejeongol. There seem to be several branches, starting in Mansu-dong, Incheon.
