A restaurant specializing in Chinese cuisine.
Located a 25-minute walk from Exit 6 of Gasan Digital Complex Station.
Jajangmyeon costs 3,000 won, and Jjamppong costs 4,000 won.
Jajang vs. Jjamppong
I decided to give it a try because it was known as a budget-friendly Chinese restaurant.
Although prices went up starting in April, this is a place where you can eat Jajangmyeon for 3,000 won in cash.
I’ve been to Jajangmyeon places famous for their 2,000-3,000 won value, and as expected, the portion size here is disappointing.
It’s practically a dessert portion, only about half the size of a regular Jajangmyeon.
You would likely need to eat at least two bowls to get a portion similar to a standard Chinese restaurant, which would make the price almost the same.
It feels like they cut the portion size by more than half to lower the price, just like other budget-friendly Chinese restaurants.
Fortunately, this place at least includes some meat.
It had the cucumber garnish I like, so the taste was decent.
It feels more like a Chinese restaurant than the Jajangmyeon you'd get at a Udon place.
However, it is a shame that the sauce has a slightly fishy taste. Maybe it's because of the pork...
Also, the noodles used here are thinner than those at typical Chinese restaurants.
Should I say the texture is a bit softer?
The Jjamppong looks a bit plain, but it tastes like Jjamppong.
It contains squid and plenty of vegetables, resulting in a clean broth flavor!
The portion size feels a bit larger than the Jjajangmyeon.
At least the Jjamppong is enough to satisfy a meal.
Store & Tips & Overall Review
The store is on the smaller side, and there aren't many tables.
There are two-person tables, so dining alone is possible.
I visited during weekday lunch, and almost all the customers were solo diners.
You order at the table and pay at the counter when you leave.
You can eat at a discounted price if you pay with cash or bank transfer.
Since it is a restaurant located in the basement, there is a slight distinctive smell.
Fortunately, it didn't feel extremely dirty.
It is a bit of a walk from Gasan Station, but you get there quickly if you take the local bus.
One bowl of Jjajangmyeon is not enough for a full meal. As a meal option, the fried rice seems to offer good value for money since it comes in a standard portion.
Or maybe add a bowl of rice to the Jajangmyeon~
