Overview
This hill, dedicated to Yun Dong-ju (1917~1945), the Japanese Colonial Period resistance poet beloved by Koreans, is located within Cheongwon Park on the slopes of Inwangsan Mountain in Cheongun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. In 1941, while attending Yonhee College, poet Yun Dong-ju boarded at the home of junior novelist Kim Song in Nusang-dong, Jongno-gu. During this time, he strolled through Cheongun-dong and Nusang-dong, refining his poetry Seosi (Foreword), and wrote representative works such as 'Counting >the Nights of the < Nights' and '<Another Hometown> He is said to have composed poetry such as 'Counting the Nights' and 'Another Hometown.' This is why Yun Dong-ju's hill was built in Cheongun-dong. In the evening, he would gaze at the sunset of Seoul from this hill near his boarding house, and imagine poetry while feeling heartbroken by the dark reality of his homeland. In addition to the poem monument, there were ten pine trees donated by singer Lee Seung-hwan and his fans, The area is adorned with stone steps engraved with the poet's precious poems, allowing visitors to appreciate them with their own eyes. In front of the West Poem monument, a sign reading 'Seoul Night View' is erected, guiding poet Yun Dong-ju from the hill as a great spot for night views. The pine tree known as the 'Yun Dong-ju Pine Tree' is also famous as a sunset route perfect for contemplation while watching the sunset, and many people visit alone. Yun Dong-ju's Hill is also connected to the Yun Dongju Literature Museum, which was remodeled from the Cheongun Water Pumping Station, which was abandoned in July 2012, and faces Changuimun Gate.
