Overview
The Omi Cooking Research Institute is a place where you can learn and make Korean cuisine using seasonal ingredients purchased from Gyeongdong Market, Cheongnyangni Market, and Yakryeong Market. In particular, it offers a systematic opportunity to learn about Korean cuisine rich in Korean fermentation culture. The classes use fresh Korean ingredients according to the season, and the menu is designed to reflect various requests such as vegetarianism, allergies, and religious needs. With a high participation of foreign tourists, classes are conducted in English and Chinese. General classes are limited to 8~10 students, and if you wish to have more participants, prior consultation is required. Classes can be reserved online. The Omi Culinary Research Institute was selected as a tourism venture in 2016 after winning the Korea Tourism Organization Tourism Venture Contest in 2014. It received the Grand Prize for Excellent Food Tourism Programs from the Korean Food Promotion Institute in 2020 and the Seoul Tourism Grand Prize at the 2021 Seoul Tourism Award.
