Itaewon's food scene reflects its global community: Indian, Middle Eastern, African, and American restaurants share streets with high-end Korean and Japanese establishments. It's also where many of Seoul's foreign chefs have set up their most ambitious projects.
Best known for kkanpunggi, Deoksoonru also serves kkanpung shrimp. The batter was unusual, and the pieces coated in sauce became soggy over time. The sauce itself was bold, with a pronounced acidity. I also ordered jajangmyeon. Despite reviews claiming it isn’t sweet, I found it sweet enough. I don’t usually enjoy jajangmyeon, but this one was fine.
