Korean cuisine (hansik) is built around balance — fermented sides (banchan), a steaming bowl of rice, and a main dish that changes with the season. Meals are served all at once rather than in courses, and sharing dishes at the table is the norm. The depth of flavor comes from slow-fermented pastes like doenjang (soybean) and gochujang (chili), which form the backbone of soups, stews, and marinades across the country.
Guro-gu is home to the Guro Digital Complex — a major tech employment hub — which has generated a vibrant lunch culture of Korean restaurants, Japanese ramen shops, and multi-cuisine food courts serving the district's daytime worker population.
Guro Digital Complex's 'Malttuk Gopchang Rooftop Branch' - Delicious Gopchang, Disappointing Service I visited 'Malttuk Gopchang Rooftop Branch' for a meeting near Guro Digital Complex Station. I was excited about the view from the high floors. I ordered the Assorted Gopchang (250g, 19,800 won). The combination of beef tripe and small intestines was delicious and lived up to my expectations. However, the service was disappointing. Despite not being crowded at the time of my visit, the staff was slow to respond to calls and had difficulty taking additional orders. The overall service was disappointing. "Maltukgopchang" has many branches in Guro, Sillim, and Gasan. I don't know about the other branches, but I think the service at this rooftop location needs improvement. The food and atmosphere were good, so improving the service would make my visit even more satisfying.
