Jung-gu sits at the geographic and commercial center of Seoul, encompassing Myeongdong (K-beauty and street food), Namdaemun Market, and the financial district. The food here spans the full range — from tourist-facing street stalls in Myeongdong to understated lunch joints serving office workers, and traditional Korean restaurants that have operated for decades without needing to advertise.
Had a quick lunch here and really enjoyed it! The place wasn’t crowded, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. The staff were super nice and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I ordered the mala tang with soup, mild spicy but to me, it was more like a 7 out of 10 on the spice scale. Still, it was absolutely delicious and really hit the spot. Nothing to complain about at all, just a solid, satisfying meal!
Yang Guo Fu Mala Tang, a clean and delicious Myeongdong malatang restaurant! The ingredients are fresh and clean. The tomato soup was generously portioned, which was great. The guo bao rou and egg fried rice were also very filling.

I loved the fresh ingredients and cleanliness of the restaurant. The mala tang broth had the savory flavor Koreans love. Be sure to order the guo ba rou too!
