Overview
Seoul Metropolitan Government selects and manages treasures among modern and contemporary cultural heritage that are valuable to pass on to future generations as 'Seoul Future Heritage.' The National April 19 Democratic Cemetery and Moon Ik-hwan's house were among them, but the Yun Geuk-young house holds special significance as it was selected first. Yun Geuk-young, who was actively active in the 1920s~30s, composed children's songs such as 'Halfmoon,' 'Lunar New Year,' 'Three Umbrellas Side by Side,' and 'Icicle.' He produced 'Bandal,' Korea's first children's song collection, and is also called 'Grandpa Bandal.' The house where he stayed during his lifetime is now used as the Vandal Cultural Center and warmly welcomes visitors. The space displaying Yoon Geuk-young's personal belongings carries the marks of many years, making you feel as if you were at your grandfather's house. The softly flowing melody of a children's song evokes childhood memories.
