Overview
Yeouido Park, which opened in 1971 on the site of the former runway as Yeouido Plaza, has established itself as a space for various national events and leisure activities. Yeouido Park, newly reborn in January 1999 after removing the black asphalt and becoming a green resting area, consists of four spaces: the Natural Ecological Forest, the Cultural Garden, the Lawn Garden, and the Korean Traditional Forest. Among these, the Cultural Square is a place where various cultural events and performances are held where citizens can participate together. Inside the plaza, there is a Taegeukgi flag display and an airplane monument to the Air Force, making it a meaningful venue. This aircraft was a C-47 transport plane that landed at Yeouido on August 18, 1945, carrying the Korean Liberation Army Jeongjindae along with the American OSS unit. The Korean Liberation Army arrived in Seoul just three days after liberation. The location where the C-47 aircraft exhibition hall is located is where the C-47 landed.
