Overview
Seongsu-dong in Seoul is the largest handmade shoe industry area in Korea, where handmade shoe manufacturers are concentrated. Since the 1970s, handmade shoe companies have gradually gathered in Seongsu-dong, where land prices are relatively cheaper, and the handmade shoe industry has begun to take root. Currently, Seongsu-dong is home to over 350 handmade shoe finished product manufacturers and about 100 intermediate processing and raw material distributors. More than 70% of Korean handmade shoe manufacturers are concentrated here. The reason Seongsu-dong has maintained its status as a core area for the handmade shoe industry is that all the shoe-related companies are concentrated within the area. Seongsu-dong has established a complete system from product design and development to final shipment and sales.
