Overview
Geolaegol is a village in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, named after the abundant and clear water in the eastern valley of Samgaksan Mountain, which was used as a laundry and resting place. This area corresponds to the valley of the Kalbawi Ridge, where Bukhansan extends straight down toward the city. Inside the valley lies a hermitage called Samseongam, and on the left foothills stands the tomb of Im Sang-soon, a very uniquely shaped tombstone. Since 2016, the 'Old Site Geolaegol Festival' has been held, and the place name is still in use today. It is about 200 meters inside, about 200 meters inside, from Exit 3 of Suyu Station on Subway Line 4, taking bus 03 and getting off at the Geolaegol terminus.
