Overview
Located in the middle of a residential area near Gwangheungchang Station on Subway Line 6, the Talyeong Post Office is a long-term project by [Reer Collective] to transform the former Changjeon-dong post office building into a cultural space. The name of the space was derived from the old term 'post office' (Post Office), and the name 'Post Office Post Office' was combined with the other meaning of 'after' ('after') and the meaning of 'beyond genre and domain' ('to leave'), resulting in the name 'Detached Domain Post Office.' The Talyeong Post Office aims to operate the space for the building's 10-year lease period, aiming for boundaryless art through linkage and experimentation between physical platforms and content. There are two floors: the first floor, which was a post office workspace, and the second floor, which was used as an official residence. The first floor mainly serves as an exhibition hall, performance hall, and screening hall, while the second floor hosts exhibitions, small projects, workshops, and various events depending on the project. True to its reputation as a repurposed unused space, the Talyeong Post Office retains traces of its post office days, such as a large safe inside the building and a waste incinerator used to burn waste. Venue rentals are conducted differentiated into general and cooperative rentals depending on the event organizer and planning content. Through video, painting, installation, performance, workshops, screenings, lectures, and talks, the Postal Post consistently showcases experimental works by artists from various fields such as performance, experimental sound, and experimental arts, offering a wide range of cultural and artistic experiences to nearby students and local residents. It is a rare art space where you can visit the gallery with your pets.
